We used it as a stop over but we will go again for a longer stay. Everything was excellent.

A lovely hotel where we were made to feel very welcome. Bedroom and bathroom very nice, bed comfy and nice views of the countryside. Evening meal was excellant and breakfast was very good. We would stay here again.

Friendly welcome, comfortable, clean room and good food
Elizabeth b, Walcote, Lutterworth (GB). 2011-04-22

Nothing was too much for our host Didier. When we remarked that we liked the flavour of the cider we were served he got the phone number of the local producer and booked for us to go and visit - he even got the map out and showed us the route - excellent service!

Such a warm welcome after arriving in France @ 4am - the place was an oasis of calm surrounded by woodland, wildlife and a beautiful river. The food was delicious, the beds fresh crisp sheets and so comfortable, we felt rejuvenated after just a few hours. Would stay again for longer as had a perfect day/night and was sad to leave . If you have kids, the adventure area in the woods is amazing, it even has a climbing wall and zip line. The owners were so friendly and were so intent on making sure we were comfortable and happy.
Star n, BRISTOL (GB). 2011-05-04

The Hotel-Restaurant Le Gasseau was a welcome reprieve from the busy streets of Paris. A peaceful country setting. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night and we unable to explore the area on horseback or check out the adventure park they have built. The owners were wonderful and the food at the restaurant was delicious! I would highly recommend this hotel!   The only issue is getting to there - be sure you have a good gps and be prepared to drive many small winding country roads!

We were welcomed really well by the staff. It is in a spectacular location nestled in the forest with picturesque villages on the doorstep. The hotel had an amazing high ropes course which was buzzing with activity during teh day when we arrived, and a lovely large kitchen garden that you can explore. Our evening meal was amazing. Not traditional french fare, but beautifully presented fresh and tasty food, and good value.

The couple who run this hotel are very friendly and extremely helpful. English is well spoken. The food is superb and this hotel was an excellent find, albeit accidental, It is located off the beaten track ,in a fabulous area of France iwe stayed at this hotel as a stopover on route to southern Spain We will return but next time to visit more of this area and sample more of Le Gasseau cuisine. Rooms are adequate and very clean t
Keith h, SKIRLAUGH (GB). 2011-05-13

This was a lovely stopover on our route south. The owners were extremely friendly and attentive. The rooms spotless and the location so tranquil and peaceful it was a real escape from everyday life. We would highly recommend this hotel as a great place to get away from it all, or a stopover en-route for somewhere different from the normal hotels.
Sarah b, Plaxtol (GB). 2011-10-03

Charming hosts, and our room was spacious and comfortable. Had a fantastic time here great setting beautiful both countryside and the old chateau. Food excellent. Great for children with horses, high wire adventure trail and hiking and mountain biking all nearby.
mark l, Orpington (GB). 2011-06-05

Set in beautiful surroundings with easy access to motorway and major city - Le Mans. A warm and friendly welcome from the proprietor. The room was superb and the meal memorable.

Tony g, Brighton (GB). 2011-06-14

The hotel is run in a friendly and professional way by husband and wife, who is the chef. We enjoyed the experience very much.

Michael w, Shipham (GB). 2011-12-27

Nice hotel, nice staff, nice food.
anonymous. 2011-06-26

The location in a lovely countryside setting; the old country-house style of the building in its own grounds with a extensive kitchen garden which guests could walk round; the quietness of the place at night; the attention to detail and the efforts made by the staff (of two, working at times flat-out, as far as we could see) to look after us. The evening meal was very well prepared and there was a good selection of wines.
John g, Sutton (GB). 2011-06-29

Le Gasseau is a charming place to spend one or many nights. The ambiance was delightful, the hosts most welcoming. The food was excellent and beautifully served. The room was spacious and comfortable. The visit was a most happy end to typically ghastly day of travelling in very heavy traffic!
Wendy c-r, Norwich (GB). 2011-06-30

The owners Theodore & Didier were very welcoming and offered a superb snack on arrival. They are excellent hosts, very friendly and chatty. We loved the tranquility and ambience of the hotel. Theodore's dinner and breakfast were delicious. We would definitely reccommend this hotel and hope to return to it some time.
Vivian b, Belfast (GB). 2011-06-30

The food was excellent and perfectly portioned. The owners went out of their way to make you feel welcome and relaxed, nothing was too much trouble. The entire surroundings were beautiful.

Very quiet location fully in the countryside, good reception, excellent restaurant and very friendly owner.
Erich l, Wien (AT). 2011-07-14

Room was spacious and very comfortable. Good for persons of reduced mobility. Copious breakfast. Managment team very helpful. Food very good but menu not extensive for a long stay.
Ian w, Grimsby (GB). 2011-07-19

Absolutely superb! Staff were lovely - attentive, but at the same time creating a relaxed untroubled environment. Rooms were smart, modern and comfortable. Restaurant had great decor, superb ambiance and a varied menu. The food was brilliant. Each dish very well balanced with delicate, but distinct flavours. Portions expertly judged over the whole meal. Grounds lovely, but be aware the property shares grounds with a rope walk activity venue and a stables. However, this is only during daylight hours though and was not a bother to us at all. Setting is deep countryside and local village is picturesque. We will be going back.
JOHN w, UCKFIELD (GB). 2011-07-20

Secure location for overnight stop but not too far off main route. Offered good dinner, spacious, modern, clean room. On site parking. Reasonable price. Very good food in the restaurant
anonymous. 2011-07-26

A very friendly welcome and made to feel very much at home from the start. Everything was spotlessly clean and the tranquillity of the hotel and surroundings was marvellous. A real family business!
anonymous. 2011-07-30

We had a very enjoyable one night stop over on 19th July. Lovely dinner, excellent dining room. The proprieters and staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming. Situated within a delightful area. Very comfortable room minimilistic decor but all you would want or need. We would recommend the hotel to friends and family and would like to return to explore the area further,
Kevin w, Horsham West Sussex (GB). 2011-07-30

Very courteous and attentive. The food was excellent. We very much enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend Le Gasseau.
Jeanette m, Faversham, Kent (GB). 2011-08-02

The area where the Hotel is situated is beautiful, with lots of activities on site, or close by. The Hotel itself is is in a striking group of buildings, with an interesting history. The buildings have recently been refurbished and everything has a fresh clean feel. The couple who ran the Hotel could not have been more helpful and friendly and the meals were excellent. We will stay there again!
James t, Bangor (GB). 2011-08-04

A very friendly and relaxed hotel - we were greeted and looked after very well - helped by the owners excellent English. The room was lovely - very spacious and comfortable, and nicely furnished. Dinner was very good, as was breakfast. Plenty of safe parking, and situated in a beautiful countryside area.
Joanne l, Dorking (GB). 2011-08-14

Beautifully clean and comfortable and a littlle bit different . Hosts / owners absolutely delightful and helpful . Delicious dinner and if you're looking for a more personal service than a chain hotel this is it .Only drawback if you call it

Lynne h, CAMBER RYE (GB). 2011-08-12

A good location not too far from the a8. Very welcoming host. Minimalist but comfortable room, very peaceful. Excellent well prepared meal from a thoughtful menu supplemented by a super wine list. Very good breakfast.
Stephen m, Wellington (GB). 2011-08-14

The standard of service and cuisine was second to none. Our hosts were very welcoming, the hotel itself has a very eastern influence, minimalist yet contemporary and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed a fabulous yet relatively inexpensive evening meal, the veal was absolutely superb, certainly the best I've ever had and skilfully cooked to perfection. The hotel generally serves a continental style breakfast however we were asked if we would like a more 'English' breakfast; I opted for a boiled egg which again was cooked to perfection. The only regret I have is that we were only there for one night.
Elaine h, Nottingham (GB). 2011-08-14

Very good hosts overall, rooms were very clean and comfortable. Beautiful setting, small village within 1 km walk offers bar/ simple restaurants. Good if slightly formal and expensive restaurant. We stayed twice, ate in the restaurant the first time and then a very good creperie in the village on our return. Rooms were good value.
anonymous. 2011-08-16

The personal attention of the management team both of whom were obviously committed to providing a welcoming service. The hotel interior is light, comfortable and modern which contrasts with its monumental exterior and it sits in a stunning rural location surrounded by woods, hills and an adjacent river valley. The grounds aerial rope walks which were being enjoyed by children and adults alike when we arrived. These activities do not intrude on your stay. Location was perfect and a wonderful setting.
martin b, Worcester (GB). 2011-08-21

New modern rooms, little things would add the extra touch, hairdryer, box of tissues, tray with kettle & tea/coffee. Also a superb Kitchen Garden to wander round.
Susan b, Cliftonville (GB). 2011-08-22

Very friendly and relaxed feel with very welcoming and helpful staff. Food at restaurant of very high standard. Peaceful location.
Adam t, London (GB). 2011-08-30

Lovely, relaxed rural setting. Was made to feel very welcome by the owners. Excellent evening meal where everything was prepared to our individual requirements. Would not hesitate to stay again.
anonymous. 2011-08-31

The welcome was warm and friendly, I am allergic to dairy and apprehensive about dining in France I need not have worried at Le Gasseau, It was the best meal that I have had for a long time and without fuss, the room was simple and comfortable. Can't wait to return.
SUSAN t, CHESTERFIELD (GB). 2011-08-31

It was a lovely location - great food and very comfortable rooms and lovely owners. Great for an overnight stop or for a few days away. Not much for very young children to do except enjoy the local animals and being outside - but for slightly older ones there was an assult course and treetop walk and a riding stables whihc looked great. Still our son was well looked and had a cot prepared and enjoyed the ride on the golf buggie. They also prepared him a small plate of food for him at dinner and and high chairs etc. and provided fresh milk for him before bed. we enjoyed our stay very much.
Lucy h, london (GB). 2011-09-12

Exemplary. When good taste and attention to detail - in food, facilities, ambience - blend they can produce simplicity and charm. I don't give 10/10, at least, not until now. We were only passing, staying for a night, but we shall be back. 10/10.
Frances t, Reading (GB). 2011-09-15

USA

Beautiful quiet site, building was renovated in 2009 with great taste, the room was specious and beds were very comfortable, the dining room was beautifully set up and the chef was named the first woman restaurateur of France, her husband was the hote with an excellent welcome and service in the dining room. Can not go wrong with that hotel. It is 4 kilometres only from St Ceneri Gerei which is named one of the most beautiful villages of France which worth a visit

Accueil sympa.

Men was erg behulpzaam.

anonymous. 2011-07-26

Mooie locatie, zeer vriendelijke mensen. Spreken goed Engels en een beetje Nederlands. Diner was zeer goed.. Kamer was erg schoon.. Een echte aanrader.
Vincent b, Spijk (NL). 2011-08-03

Fantastisch hotel.
